A short day because of the clocks going forward and the early night. We drove back home as well. I did self-awareness practice quite a bit, and some heartbeat med with a little mantra as I fell asleep.
Dreams
1.55am – A One Tree Hill dream again (and again on the day we arrive back, but I haven’t seen any for a few days now). It took a darker turn when we discovered that there was a murderer on the loose, who went by the name of ‘The Beheader’. It was part of a much larger dream, I know, (I need to work something into my mantra to try and fix my memory problems when it comes to the larger dreams). I guess it was the end of a season in the show because we needed a cliff-hanger or big shock to finish on. So Haley was at home alone and talking to someone on the phone. That someone asked a question and the response from Haley said ‘Ewww, no. I’d rather have my throat slit’. In the blink of an eye the music got louder (Haley’s own song from the show) and everything else went silent; a man appeared behind her. He was bald and had a face like Jason’s hockey mask, only it was skin coloured because it was actually his face. He pulled her head up by the hair and drew his knife along her neck (saying what she did really was a rookie horror film mistake by Haley, when there was a killer on the loose). Immediately afterwards he hacked at her neck four times to cut free her head. Then he made his way closer to the camera and set it down, before piercing the nostrils with a drawing pin. This hurt apparently, because the head squeezed its eyes shut and grimaced in pain. It all happened so quickly and violently, its hard to explain. It was as though it was meant to be acted and filmed, but then the crew realised that it wasn’t actually fake. And it was such an unexpected thing to happen in my dreams, I don’t usually have scary or horrible dreams like this. Though perhaps it as fairly clear what was going to happen when we leant in the papers about ‘The Beheader’ being on the loose. I woke harrowed and really quite scared. I’m not one to get scared easily at all, but I didn’t want to turn over from my back because I didn’t want him to be behind me. Luckily it was quite light as well and the room was quite visible, otherwise the coat on the back of my door would have been terrifying. I had to listen to a couple of breaths from my girlfriend, to make sure it was her, and that she wasn’t dead. The whole dream instant took only a few seconds, and after a few more seconds of being awake I realised how ridiculous I was being, so I turned over and tried to sleep again. But that was difficult when my brain would stop singing Haley’s song and it wouldn’t stop showing me the horrid man’s face. This was such an intense moment of dream that I’m fairly sure if I had been more involved personally, instead of viewing it as a ‘film’ dream, that lucidity would have been triggered.
4.55am – I found out on the last day that I had an essay due in. The only problem is that I was absolutely wasted. However I did the essay and got it in on time. I got the results on the same day, a fail. No matter, I was having a bad day anyway. I went to fill my bottle up with water and someone has aimed the taps so they hit me in the crotch. It is quite funny and I laughed. Some welcome comedy value after the harrowing of the first dream.
8.00am – Post-apocalyptic and I don’t remember much of it; two staples of my dreaming experience. There were only four people left alive on the planet or town, and they were about to be bombed. One man put a duvet over a boy to save him from the nuke, while sacrificing himself. The boy wondered what he was going to do all by himself for so long. But the nuke turns out to be just a really huge snow drift, so instead of dead they all just get cold, the duvet was a good call apparently. They moved off and find another group of survivors, thought they are a group of asses, like a gang, the kind of people you would want to move across the road to avoid, but they would follow you anyway. They did torment the survivors a little as well. Then the scene cut to the main baddies lair. He was sat alone on his throne of stone in his dark underground kingdom, and there was a dog racing up to him. This dog used to belong to the four survivors, and I thought it was going here to attack the baddie. But it also turned out that the baddie liked dogs and had the twin brother of this one, though it had died a while ago. He recognised the dog as it pounced into his lap and licked his fingers.
