- In bed – 10.28pm
- Lights off – 1.09am
- Woke up – 8.55am
My last real exam of university, and I’m only in the second year. Done and done. Straight after it, I was off to begin an oral presentation, which is in a week or twos time. The day didn’t leave much time for ADA and Self-awareness. A late night, with no reading and minimal med and mantra.
Dreams
6.35am – A computer game dream I had gotten into by reading a book. I got jokingly kicked out of the kitchen by my girlfriend’s parents. I was helping to put away some food into the fridge, but I couldn’t fit the long, tubular shaped coconut into the fridge, and had no idea what to do with the ‘King Zucchini’ which was sloughing its skin off in my hand, named so, apparently because of the little turquoise gem-like eyes that lined its sides. When I went to the other room, I made sure that the heaters were on and not blowing noisy cold air around. I put a clean blanket on the chair, brushing away all of the crumbs, and chose a book; either ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Name of the Wind’ or either a ‘Harry Potter’ or something completely made up by my brain. I think I chose the Rothfuss one. Reading it, I entered a ‘Red Dead Redemption’ kind of world, mixed with a little bit of ‘Assassin’s Creed’. It was a frozen winter world and I was doing missions for the baddies I was infiltrating. I had to ruin along some rooftops then leap and grab some yellow ropes, which would lower me gently to the ground. Then I had to shoot a gun out of someone’s hand. I did the last bit so badly that the whole thing reset and I had to try again. Except after the yellow ropes I got lost, finding a side mission; two ghost girls singing ‘ring-a-roses’ left a picture that I needed to take to several places on the map. Returning to the guy to shoot at, I woke up.
7.58am – I was going through a house, (I don’t remember but I’m sure I had been there before, earlier in this dream). I was heading to bed. Reaching the bedroom and lying on the bed I realised that there was a door missing on the far wall. I remember walking through it at some point earlier, or at least I thought I had walked through it which was enough I guess. It was strange that the door wasn’t there, but I had no explanation for it. Nonetheless my dream prep had taught me to RC whenever something odd happened. So I plugged my nose, utterly convinced that I was going to struggle to breathe. Just before I took my breath it clicked that I was dreaming, and now I was lucid. I took a few deep, slow breaths forcing myself to stay calm and relaxed. There was no ‘woohoo’, just a calm acceptance of my lucidity. Not wanting to lose the dream I tried rubbing my hands together, (it is one of the stabilisation methods the forums talk about), and touching things around me, to ground myself physically with the dream world I guess. After a few moments I opened the door. This room had drastically changed since I came through it at the start of the dream. I reminded myself vocally, ‘I am dreaming. I am dreaming’, and continued down the hall. This wasn’t a dream I took control over I don’t think. Just one where I followed the dream plot and narrative, wherever it took me. A couple of people were complaining that someone had been hogging the shower for almost a week now. Curious about this I knocked on the door. No answer, but I could hear the shower coming from inside. I knocked again. No answer. There wasn’t anyone in there the whole week, I concluded, just someone had left the shower on. I pushed open the door (I think losing my lucidity now, from not remembering to remind myself enough) and I was yelled at by a screaming, naked and angry girl.
8.55am – In a work room at a nuclear plant or something. I think they were baddies, but I was helping them out because the whole place was going into meltdown. There were a few explosions, I pulled a guy away from one, saving his life. The explosions were really tacky, cheap and clean. I remember one desk breaking and it looked like it was made of balsa wood. Me and the leader woman had a plan, we scrambled for a tiny phone and had to call 1111503222 to get hold of the manufacturers and have them run through the maintenance. Funny how I remember some detail far more than others.
A fantastic nights dreaming and a lucid at boot. This is fully because of my awareness over the last couple of days, perhaps just taking a little while to sink into the unconscious part of my brain. The detail in the dreams, even the non lucid ones, was incredible, I remember feeling the seat on my skin as I brushed crumbs from it in the first dream. It only renews my desire for having more lucid dreams.
